In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the United States Postal Service (USPS) anticipates delivering up to 80 million Economic Impact Payments (EIPS) in the near future. WE are asking our law enforcement agencies to exercise increased vigilance for USPS employee safety whenever possible.
The intense media focus and public awareness surrounding these EIPs, will make USPS employees and vehicles a tempting target for criminal activities.
Please be prepared to respond to and address any criminal activities associated with the mailing of these payments, to include:
General thefts of mail
Forced entries into delivery cluster box units
Assaults and Robberies of USPS personnel
Break-ins of USPS delivery vehicles
Burglaries and Robberies of USPS facility
Fraudulent Change of Address and Hold mail activity
We are asking our law enforcement to pay extra attention to the safety and security of our local USPS employees as they complete their critical duties.
